NURSES DAY CELEBRATION
The International Nurses Day celebration was organized by Coimbatore College of Nursing, Coimbatore, on 13th May 2026 under the theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” The programme commenced with a grand procession and prayer song, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilakku, symbolizing knowledge, hope and the noble mission of nursing. Prof. S. Muthulakshmi, Principal, Coimbatore College of Nursing, delivered the welcome address and emphasized professional excellence, kindness and empathy in nursing. Dr. S. Mohan, Chairperson, Principal, Coimbatore College of Pharmacy and delivered the Presidential Address, appreciating nurses’ vital contribution to patient care and community health. Prof. Dr. M. Kavimani, Principal, Shivaparvathi Mandradiar College of Nursing, Palayakottai, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered an inspiring address highlighting the responsibilities, challenges and future opportunities in nursing. The celebration also featured speech and symposium competitions, providing students with opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge, communication skills, confidence and creativity. Outstanding participants were honoured with prizes and certificates, encouraging academic excellence and professional development. The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, the National Anthem and the formal sign-off by the Master of Ceremonies, leaving the gathering inspired to uphold the values of dedication, compassion, ethics and service in the nursing profession.
